SCUBA DIVING WITH MANTA RAYS IN
NUSA LEMBONGAN

We were able to get up close and personal with several large Manta Rays which was a truly magical experience..

One of the main reasons we decided to venture to Nusa Lembongan was because there is some of the best diving in Bali located right off this island. We had high hopes to see some gorgeous fish and possibly if we were really lucky, some manta rays. We got extremely lucky and we got up close and personal with tons of Manta Rays.
We booked a dive trip with Siren Diving who was a wonderful outfitter. Since the weather was a bit questionable during the week of our visit, we waited until we were on the island to book our dive trip. Normally I book well in advance, but they were really easy and accommodating to a last minute booking. The staff there was very easy to deal with and they were super laid back.

They told us that the weather had been unpredictable as of recent, and so they weren’t sure if we would be able to make it to Manta Point, which is the dive site I had asked for when booking the trip. I crossed my fingers and went to bed, and the next morning I woke up and… rain!

We rode our scooter in the pouring rain to the Siren dive shop, with lost hope of getting to go to Manta Point. However, once we arrived we were told that the water was calm and we were good to go to Manta Point. Woo!
We rode on the boat for about an hour past stunning views of Nusa Penida to get to Manta Point. Manta Point is a large rock where manta rays slowly glide around while getting cleaned by smaller fish; known as a cleaning station.

As we rode on the long boat ride, I tried not to get my hopes up of seeing a manta, as nothing is guaranteed. However, about 3 minutes after getting in the water I spotted my first one.
And then another! In total we saw about 6-8 manta rays. They swam all around us and they were not shy at all. It was a magical, breathtaking experience unlike any other dive i’ve done before.

We spent 40 minutes in the water watching these awe-inspiring, large rays swim around us. After that, we headed to our second dive site where we saw some beautiful coral, a small shark, and some awesome fish.

After arriving back in Nusa Lembongan, the whole drive crew took everyone out for an awesome lunch and a bee. I’ve never had a dive company take everyone out to a lunch, so i thought that was pretty awesome.

I couldn’t recommend Siren Dive and that specific trip enough. They were so professional and all around great people. The dive was one I will never forget.
