ORGANICS IN TULUM

I discovered some amazing, organic, locally made shampoo, conditioner and body wash and have been using it ever since my trip. I am dreading the day I run out!

While staying at the Papaya Playa Project, I was pleasantly surprised by the toiletries they provided in the bathroom. I have very low expectations for hotel toiletries, however the PPP featured locally made, organic products made with local Mayan Bee honey; and they all did wonders to my skin and hair! The name of the products is Yucatan Herbal.
The honey shampoo and conditioner made my hair feel great, and kept it smooth and silky even during humid days. The aloe body wash smelled incredible and also helped to soothe my skin after many day in the sun. The lotion was a honey based lotion and did a great job moisturising my skin after long days in the sun and saltwater.
“My favourite products are those made with Mayan Bee honey, however they also have products made with coconut, papaya, aloe and other fabulous ingredients.”

I loved these items so much that I did a ton of research online to see where I could purchase them. After scouring the internet, I finally found a post by someone in a message board, talking about a small Mayan-owned shop about 30 minutes away from Tulum. The shop just happened to be on our way to the Coba Ruins, so we made a plan to stop in here.
The shop is absolutely adorable and they sell all types of organic shampoos, body wash, lotions, skin care and more. The interesting thing about this shop is that he not only sells his products here but he also makes them on site.

The owner of the shop educated me about Mayan Bees, which are the unique bees that produce the honey for their products. They don’t have stingers and are unique to Mexico, so his family has been making skincare products from their honey for years. Everything is made in small batch and is 100% organic.
I went crazy and bought one of everything! At $3 per bottle of shampoo & conditioner, you can splurge a little but. I highly recommend stopping here and checking out this shop if you are in Tulum.
