THE ARCHIVE BISTRO AND BAR

While planning a trip to Waiheke Island I kept finding rave reviews online about dining at Mudbrick Vineyards. So many reviews gave them 5 stars and even Taylor Swift had dinner there while she was on the island. So, I decided we needed to give it a try and see what all the hype was about.

I made our reservation for 6:45 PM so that we could catch the sunset right before we sat for dinner. The sunset views from this property are spectacular! Definitely try to schedule your dinner around the sunset if you decide to dine here.

Mudbrick has two restaurants, Mudbrick Restaurant and The Archive Bistro and Bar. The Archive offered a bit more of a relaxed vibe which is more our style, so we opted to grab a bite there versus Mudbrick restaurant. The Archive is a gorgeous space, nice and cozy inside with al fresco seating available as well. It was a bit chilly the night we were there and although they had blankets for those that dined outside, we opted to to dine indoors.  

We started off with an order of their house-made Mudbrick olive oil served with rosemary & spelt focaccia. We also grabbed some local oysters which were tasty. For our entree we decided to split the a dish for two which was the slow cooked beef short rib served with crunchy mustard potatoes, roasted onions, tarragon salsa verde and red wine jus. O-M-G it was amazing!!!! We both thought it was one of the best dishes we had ever had.
